In BP; we deliver heat, light and mobility products and services to people all around the world in ways that will help to drive the transition to a lower carbon future. BP has a long standing partnership with Abu Dhabi since 1939 and was at the forefront of the discovery of oil in the Emirate in 1958. BP is active in the Middle East in Oman (Khazzan), Iraq (Rumaila), Kuwait (Burgan) and UAE (ADNOC Onshore, ADNOC LNG and NGSCO). BP has upstream and midstream activities in Abu Dhabi and a downstream business managed from Dubai. BP net production across the Middle East is currently ca 350,000 barrels of oil/day. With our NOC partners, we are helping to develop ca five million barrels of oil/day across the region.
BP’s interests in Abu Dhabi include joint venture partnerships with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and shareholdings in ADNOC Onshore (BP share 10%), ADNOC LNG (BP share 10%), and National Gas Shipping Company Ltd (NGSCO) (BP share 10%). BP’s net share of production from Abu Dhabi is around 160,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) from ADNOC Onshore. BP has a number of secondees in ADNOC and ADNOC Onshore in key technical and leadership positions. BP continue to invest in developing local capabilities including seconding Emirati national staff to different BP locations worldwide and supporting various social investment programmes such as BP Young Adventures, a training and leadership programme for teenagers from around the region, our partnership with Environment Agency Abu Dhabi on the Sustainable Schools Initiative, with Emirates Foundation for Youth Development, with Khalifa University, with Masdar on the Catalyst, the region’s first technology start-up accelerator focused on sustainability and clean technology and with ADNOC supporting social responsibility programme with emphasis on the Western Region.

We integrate sustainability principles into our business to minimize the environmental impact of our operations and products, while also responding to rising global energy demand. This is why we continually strive to decarbonize our operations and reduce our carbon footprint, and are on target to reduce the intensity of our operational Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 25% by 2030, while we continue to supply carbon efficient oil and gas and invest in clean renewable energy. Building on our sustainability principles, our collaboration with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi is a demonstration of our commitment to raising awareness on environmental sustainability through the development of impactful educational opportunities and platforms.
